Irregularities in the alignment of the teeth are very common in the U.S. Many studies have shown that more than half of the population develop natural malocclusions that an orthodontist would recommend professional treatment for. While early intervention is typically preferred, many people do not receive orthodontic treatment in childhood. Others may experience relapse after orthodontic treatment due to insufficient use of a retainer.
For adults with crowded teeth, spacing, or bite imbalances, the idea of wearing traditional metal braces could seem unappealing. Fortunately, there is an effective and discreet alternative that offers beautiful aesthetic results without the inconveniences and embarrassment of fixed orthodontics.
Since 2006, Clear Correct has been transforming the smiles of patients who desire straighter, more evenly spaced teeth. It uses customized prescription aligners to gently shift the teeth into a more desirable position. These aligners are completely transparent, making them very difficult for the average person to detect.
Over a series of several months, each aligner is worn for approximately 2-3 weeks before being swapped out for the next one. The aligners must be worn a minimum of 22 hours per day for optimal treatment results. Treatment is complete once patients have progressed through all of the Clear Correct aligners prescribed.
Here at Fornaris Dental Care, we know how important first impressions can be. We know that many people in the Miami area want to impress with a beautiful smile. As an adult, however, traditional braces can be a distraction during orthodontic treatment. Clear Correct, on the other hand, does not cause an awkward appearance during treatment. Since the aligners fit directly over the teeth, patients can maintain a natural appearance – something many patients consider important both personally and professionally.
Traditional braces are fixed to the teeth, requiring frequent orthodontic visits for uncomfortable tightening. Not to mention, metal braces contain brackets and wires that must be well-cared for. Eating hard or sticky foods is off-limits, since this can cause the brace components to break. In addition, patients who wear traditional braces must take special care in cleaning the teeth, being careful to brush every surface and in between brackets and wires.
Clear Correct also makes treatment easier and more convenient than ever before. Since Clear Correct is removable, patients can take aligners off to eat and enjoy their favorite foods. Clear Correct can also be removed while brushing the teeth, making it easier to maintain good oral hygiene during treatment.
You might be a candidate for Clear Correct if you are an adult with mild to moderate bite or tooth spacing and alignment issues. However, Clear Correct is not appropriate for all patients. Only a consultation with Dr. Fornaris can help you determine if this type of orthodontic treatment is right for you.
During your visit, Dr. Fornaris will answer any questions you may have and help you learn what type of results you could personally expect to receive from treatment. Our team may take x-rays or use other imaging technology to map your current smile and create a plan for treatment. If Dr. Fornaris determines that Clear Correct is right for you, tooth impressions will be taken and sent to the Clear Correct lab where your personal aligners will be fabricated just for you.
